Jet-Ventilation:

Jet ventilation is a special technique of artificial ventilation that works with oxygen supplied via small-bore catheters. This technique proved extremely helpful in patients requiring airway surgery (i.e. the larynx, the vocal cords, the trachea). Thereby, conditions of surgery can be optimized during general anaesthesia with surgery carried out without compromise by conventional instruments of mechanical ventilation. The usage of jet ventilation requires the special technical equipment and is only offered by experts in highly specialized medical centres. International research contributes to further developments and applications.
